Scan your system for sensitive data

If you work with any sensitive data (SSN's, GID's, credit card numbers, etc.) on campus, you will want to run
the Spider utility from Cornell University. It is an application that scans files & folders for
specific patterns or expressions. For more information, click here.
Daylight Savings Time changes in 2007
February 22, 2007
The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S. Congress July, 2005, extended Daylight
Saving Time (DST) in the U.S. by approximately four weeks. As a result, beginning in 2007, DST
will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007,
resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed. Click

IE7 now compatible with Banner INF & WebCT
February 12, 2007
It is now recommended to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) even if you use Banner INF
or WebCT. The compatibility issues with these systems have been worked out. When
you run Automatic Updates or the Windows/Microsoft Update sites, it
may prompt
you to install IE7 (More info & Screenshots).
Click "Install" to start the installation process. For more

Antivirus Software Available Free to Departments

MSU-Bozeman, through central funding by the University, provides anti-virus software for University
owned computers running the Windows, Linux, or Macintosh operating systems. For
those that did not know however, all you need is a domain login account to gain
access to it. If you do not have one or don't know if you do, you can call or

Microsoft and Apple end support and security updates for legacy operating systems
October 11, 2006
By October 10th of this year Microsoft & Apple will have ended support for several of their legacy
operating systems. This means an end to patch and security update releases and that unsupported operating
systems will need to be upgraded to a currently supported version. More info...
